Dr. Mary Buzzetta,
Licensed Psychologist
Welcome!
In my practice, I work primarily with adults and specialize in trauma intervention, assessment, and treatment, as well as grief and loss, life transitions, career and vocational concerns, and mind-body connections. I have a deep passion for supporting physicians, healthcare providers, and academic medicine professionals. Before starting my private practice, I served as the Clinical Director for the Faculty Behavioral Health Services (FBHS) program at UT Health San Antonio, where I provided direct clinical services to School of Medicine faculty members on a bi-weekly basis.
I am also dedicated to working with college students and have extensive experience addressing the unique challenges they face. The majority of my career was spent in university counseling center settings, including my most recent role as the Director of the Student Counseling Center at Texas A&M University–San Antonio. As a military family member, I’m committed to supporting veterans and their family members. I served on the National Career Development Association’s (NCDA) Veterans Committee for seven years and have published in journals and presented at several state, regional, and national conferences on veteran-related topics.
I utilize an integrative approach, incorporating client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic/attachment theory, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) concepts and techniques into my therapeutic work with clients. I have extensive clinical experience delivering evidence-based treatments for trauma, sleep, and suicide prevention including Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Written Exposure Therapy (WET), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares (CBT-N), and Crisis Response Planning (CRP).
In my free time, you can find me attending a group exercise or yoga class, watching my favorite Television show, Dancing with the Stars, or spending quality time exploring San Antonio with my husband and two children.
